Elizabeth Scott is one of my most favorite young adult authors EVAH! I am a total fangirl, I adore her books, and I am thrilled to host her as part of the Girlfriend’s Cyber Circuit. Her novel “The Unwritten Rule” releases today, March 16, from Simon Pulse and I’ll be in line at the book store to buy a copy. Here’s a description of the story.

Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don’t like you best friend’s boyfriend.Sarah has had a crush on Ryan for years. He’s easy to talk to, supersmart, and totally gets her. Lately it even seems like he’s paying extra attention to her. Everything would be perfect except for two things: Ryan is Brianna’s boyfriend, and Brianna is Sarah’s best friend. Sarah forces herself to avoid Ryan and tries to convince herself not to like him. She feels so guilty for wanting him, and the last thing she wants is to hurt her best friend. But when she’s thrown together with Ryan one night, something happens. It’s wonderful…and awful. Sarah is torn apart by guilt, but what she feels is nothing short of addiction, and she can’t stop herself from wanting more...

Daisy: If you met your 16 year old self, what piece of advice would you give her?
Elizabeth: Don’t take Math Analysis! Your mother will tell you that you need it, but take typing instead. You’ll need that. You’ll forget Math Analysis while you’re in class! Also, don’t worry about the future. It’ll come, and you know what? You’ll be okay.

Daisy: When you tell people you write books for teens, what do you say when they ask, “Oh, like Twilight?”
Elizabeth: I say, “Exactly like that! Only without the millions of dollars. Or vampires.” But writing something as successful as Twilight? I’d love for that to happen!

Daisy: I have created magnificent ass dents in two couches from all the writing time I log. I also have a pair of white fuzzy boot slippers that look like something a yeti might wear if yetis wore boots. What piece of clothing or item in your home would provide the necessary evidence to prove to the authorities that you are a writer if questioned?
Elizabeth: My comfy black writing pants. That’s right, writing pants! I can write without them, but I’d rather not!

Daisy: When you’re not reading or writing, where can you most likely be found?
Elizabeth: Sleeping, hanging out with friends or family, or watching TV/going to the movies

Daisy: In my first novel “The Mockingbirds,” a group of boarding school students form an underground justice system to right the wrongs of their peers. Looking back on your high school experience, what type of secret society did your school need the most?
Elizabeth: I don’t know that my high school could have handled a secret society–it was really small! I guess one to make sure people who were ignored by even the administration, but yet were total college material, were actually encouraged to go, would have been very awesome.

Daisy: Most people want to know who would play your main character if your novel became a film. But I’m a Broadway geek, so I want to know what you would call the show-stopping number from your novel when it becomes a Broadway musical.
Elizabeth: I have no idea! But I bet if you ask Brianna, from my new book, The Unwritten Rule, she’d have a few numbers in mind! (Broadway is her thing!)

Daisy: I’m going to tweet this blog post. So tell me in 140 characters or less, why people should buy your book.
Elizabeth: You’re in love…with your best friend’s boyfriend. You should’t be, but you are–so what do you do?

Thanks, Elizabeth!
