As I was finishing revising THE MOCKINGBIRDS last month, I put a call out on Twitter for new last names for the antagonists. I got some good suggestions and used one or two of them in the book, such as “Ward” and “Dumas” (though Dumas turned out to be better for the French teacher’s last name). I then put the word out that I was looking for first names for a few very minor characters and I used some of those names too, including “AnnaMarie” and “Emilee.”
So now as I embark on preliminary work on THE MOCKINGBIRDS sequel, I’ll need many first names and last names for potential characters! Of course, the main characters aren’t up for grabs — they’ll carry over from the first book. But there will be many new characters, minor and major, in this story. And characters always need names. So if you want to throw your name — first or last — into the ring for consideration, please leave a comment here in this post. That way I can always check back on this post when I am writing.

Unfortunately I don’t have a very exciting/unusual name… but I would like to suggest the names Sheldon, Jareth, Hamish and Phoebe… something about those four names just sticks with me. Good luck with your sequel and I absolutely can’t wait to read *THE MOCKINGBIRDS*

I’ve always thought “Stephanie Perkins” had a lovely ring to it.
OR . . . what about . . .
Ebeneezer, Mergatroid, or Dorcus?
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’ll be sure to add your book on my debut authors list!
My husband thought I was trying to tell him something one day when I brought home the big book of 1001 baby names…LOL.
Yeah, that’s an awkward conversation. “No honey, I’m not having a baby. I’m just trying to name my characters.”
I agree with Stephanie. I think Dorcus has a nice ring to it. Or maybe Ebneezer…it is Christmas after all. : )
I always liked my name, Adelaide Lin
, although I’m never actually called Adelaide, friends and family all call me Adi, lol.
Good luck with your sequal, can’t wait to read The Mockingbirds!
