Really good post. It's an interesting idea. I am a true fan of several authors and musicians going by this definition. It would be an incredible feeling to be on the other side of the equation. :)

Marking that book on to my to-reads.. The technology one I mean. I already had The Unwritten Rule on there!

It is like direct marketing, good point, but with the fans.

And you soon will have your own 1000+ true fans.

I love this post. I am a true fan of a few authors, the amazing Elizabeth Scott included, and you're so right. Even a small connection, can turn a fan, into a true fan.

I really like this idea. It makes the act of writing seem so much more romantic. It would be great to sell a million books and have people enjoy them when they read them. But the idea that you are really changing 1000 peoples lives in a meaningful way is a truly great idea. Thanks for the post.

Interesting post! And how does one maintain meaningful "direct contact," I wonder? Of course it can be through blogging, giving interviews, Twittering, and doing tours--but I wonder are there even more creative, engaging ways people are doing this? Fan clubs with sneak peeks? Merchandising? What else? Thanks for the brainstorm prompt, Daisy! - Whitney

I've read this post, but I loved it! Now, I must start working on my 1000 fans.

Though, it would probably be easier to have fans if I actually finished my book. Hmmm... yes. I will get right on that! : )
