A Few Good Book Trailers
If youre looking for a good book to read these days, chances are you might run into an online book trailer promoting it. Authors and publishers are increasingly turning to Web video to market their books, opening a possible new business opportunity for independent producers. Authors such as Daryn Kagan, Scott Sigler and David Wellington have produced trailers on their own for their works and so has Canadian author Courtney Summers for her upcoming debut novel Cracked Up To Be. Youll also learn about new production companies cropping up to serve this market and my must-read book pick in this weeks edition of the New Media Minute

[...] I am a big Daisy Whitney fangirl. Her New Media Minute–featured on her site, ABC News, TVWeek–is fun and fab and I love tuning in. So guess how loudly I squealed when I saw this? [...]

Online video is a great new medium that authors should embrace because like Daisy said there is the potential to reach new audiences, it builds suspense, invites a new way of connecting with the author, and creates more of a call to action with a video story surrounding the book.
I wonder if this will also lead to an increase in sales through services like Audible? I would have to say yes, that digital sales should increase.
For all of you new authors out there, book trailers are a great way to break into the space of social media. Just choose your production team wisely or the trailer may end up hurting your book’s release more than helping it.

Nice tips here Daisy. You’ve one again pointed me in a direction in which to go snooping around. Thanks!
I find it ironic that someone with your position in the online video world should actually pine for doing book reviews. Just goes to show ya that the grass is always greener.
Hell, go for it. Do your own indie book review site. Use video and your knowledge of the biz to promote yourself doing it. I’d watch (and review) it. I’m sure a lot of others would too.
Cheers,
